New Beginnings in Year 15!
The Helen Cox Varsity Cheerleading team was formed in 2004 when the school became a high school. During that time, it has been coached by LaToya M. Bailey who is a faculty member at the school.
The squad has continually grown and improved. In our 10th year, we started competing and attended the 2014 National High School Cheerleading Championship in Disney World where we won 2nd place in the Small Varsity division of the Home Pom competition.
We had continued success at the 2015 NHSCC. We placed 4th in our Worlds division and 19th in our Nationals division - the largest division at the competition with over 50 teams!
2016 was amazing with us becoming the Small Varsity Non-Tumbling National Champions at the NHSCC!! We also placed 3rd in the Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day Division.
We continued to improve in 2017 by becoming the Small Varsity Non-Tumbling Game Day National Champions at the NHSCC! We also placed 3rd in Worlds and 7th in National Competition.
We did not compete nationally in 2018 but are excited to return in 2019!
